devil made me do it!

Thanks to everyone who came out to Neutral on Sunday for the Devil Made me DO it weekly party.  So much fun! More rockin and the like.  The Rock ons rocked-on with their Zombie theme and gory set up, a usual day at the office, you know.
After the insanity that was March, we will be taking a breather to write material, get the website and new merch line up, as well as prepare and promote for our fundraising gig on May 2nd at Rolly's Garage. The all day, all ages event will start with a pre-show at 4 pm with a BBQ outside on the driveway of the venue, with acoustic performances by local musicians and open-mic. The full show will start at 9pm with performances by Les Gars, Machetes and more amazing acts TBA...  Keep your ear to the ground, It'll all come crashing down.
Here are some pictures from the Neutral gig, by Mikey Riot.

OHHH!! And please be aware that we are compiling a Machetes mailing list to send regular updates out. Please e-mail your name and e-mail address in full to with the subject as "add to mailing list".

Here, there and everywhere,
Alana T. Devee.

Thank you darlings, you make it o.k.

Thanks to Toronto Music Scene for the review of our CMW gig at the Playdead Mansion.
"...Songs like 'Black Leather' and 'Ace' were instant classics with this band.  Don't be surprised if you hear a lot more this year about Machetes fashion sense, raw sexuality and of course their music."
Check out the full article at
And don't forget about our gig this Saturday at the United Steelworkers Hall with the Shanks.

Show with the 'State TONIGHT at Rivoli!!

We've been busy, busy bees lately playing all sorts of shows.  Canadian Music Week was exciting, and playing at the Horseshoe was my personal favourite considering I've seen some of my most memorable concerts there.  2am show at the Bovine was difficult- funny how you realize how fu*ed people get at the Bovine when you're not!  We had to play the back line they provided, which was a bit of a shit show since I had to stand REALLYstill in order to hear anything else on the stage--- bass, drums, vocals--- not fun- but these things happen.   The insane week was capped with the gig in Orangeville with the Shanks at a boxing ring.  Fun to bounce off the ropes while playing, and the sound and lights that they had set up was totally rad. Yes, rad.
We are playing with the Shanks again at the United Steelworkers Hall at 25 Cecil St. near College and Spadina next Saturday (March 28) and then the next day (Sunday) we have another gig at Neutral with the Rock Ons for a weekly goth party. Still going strong......
Tonight we are doing a charity show called Pop With Brains with our very lovely friends in the State of Things.  It's $5 and all the proceeds go to CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Heath- how appropriate-...)
AND THEN we will be taking a bit of a brake to finally revamp our website, make new merch, write songs, and prepare our hugely amazing fundraising gig for our UK trip on May 2nd (you can check out our confirmed dates on our myspace~~

Happy Birthday T. devee....

Hey, it's my birthday this weekend, and I wouldn't want to spend it anyway else!  While technically I get old(er) this Friday (feb 20), I intend on ripping it up  at our gig on Saturday at The Canadian Corps Legion Hall with our longtime buddies The Hoa Hoas and the Disrealis. Planet Creature will also be playing, and I'm sure the love will be shared.
